Al Shaheen Deportment
Units destined for the Al Shaheen project during development at CiTECH's Hull Fabrication plant.
Four 25 Mwt vertical integral bypass, cold casing packages during transportation to and arrival at Rolls Royce and Technip's Total Akpo project in Nigeria.
A total of seven CiBAS units were exported for use in the Gulf of Thailand. Unlike the Ormen lange project it was not a requirement for the police to shut off roads to allow transport
Two packages were deployed quarter 3 2006 with a destination of Ormen Lange. This process required the closing of roads by police to move the huge cargo, as shown in the images above. The units were individually placed on a 150 wheel platform, which was then driven via remote control between the fabrication plant and dock for loading and exportation.
The move below shows the scale of the units transported, and why we had to request that the police closed the roads.
Units are transported to Snovhit site in Norway. These units were loaded onto a heavy transport barge, which could then be loaded onto a transport ship. To allow the barge onto the ship, the ship submerged until its platform was below the barge in the water, the barge was slid over the submerged section, and the ship lifted up to normal level, complete with the barge on the ship. This technique then allowed easy transport of the Snovhit Project.
