CiTECH have been awarded the order from ABB Offshore Systems for two Horizontal CiBAS C70 WHRU for the Ekofish 2/4K Platform to provide heat to the on-board Oil and Gas Processing System.

The CiBAS units are designed to be cold casing and run dry, the units are specified to recoup at a combined flow rate of 240,000 kg/hr a total thermal duty of 5,000 kW through a Water Glycol system recovering heat from two LM 2500 Turbine.

The Ekofish oil field remains one of the most important oil fields in the North Sea. It was the first discovery of oil after the drilling of over 200 exploration wells in the North Sea “triggered” by the Groningen gas field discovery.

Overall, daily injection rate on Ekofisk and Eldfisk is approximately 650,000 barrels of water. The water injection method is used to increase the recovery of oil and gas. The function of the water is to maintain reservoir pressure at a suitable level as oil and gas is recovered from the reservoir.
