The Unique and Patented features of the Concentric Integral Bypass & Silencer (CiBAS) WHRU make it pure simplicity.

Simple, Unique Design

The unique and patented CiBAS WHRU combines the efficiency of the heat exchanger coil, exhaust gas control damper & silencer in a single circular package.  This reduces weight, footprint and cost of the WHRU compared with a conventional WHRU design.  Due to its cylindrical design, the CiBAS utilises less material, is inherently stronger and has advanced wind/blast profiles than a rectangular shape of a conventional WHRU.

Support Frame

The CiBAS WHRU utilises a simple, single support frame to support the WHRU and upstream and downstream ducting. Additional height support frames can be provided to mount the WHRU directly over the GT vertical outlet depending on site requirements. If required, the frame can be fully removed and the WHRU installed directly into existing support frames or decks.

Lower Case

The CiBAS WHRU lower case serves multiple vital functions for the CiBAS unit. As well as directing the exhaust flow onto the helical coil it provides the main support interface for the full unit. It also provides the external mounting points and access through the case for the three pneumatic or hydraulic cylinders. The adjustable sealing ring ensures 99.5% sealing for the sleeve damper. All CiBAS cases are designed to be ‘cold case’, fully lined with Alkaline Earth Silicate insulation and stainless steel lining plates.

Coil Case

The CiBAS WHRU coil case wraps around the helical coil heat exchanger and provides the supports to enable thermal expansions within the unit. Access to the coil can be provided via a bolted clam shell design. All CiBAS cases are designed to be ‘cold case’, fully lined with Alkaline Earth Silicate insulation and stainless steel lining plates.

Efficient Helical Coil

The CiBAS Helical Coil Heat Exchanger utilises finned pipes up to 12m long cold formed into multiple helical passes through the exhaust path.  This drastically reduces the number of welds, minimizes the heating medium pressure drop and maximises the use of the exhaust gas pressure drop to give you the most efficient heat exchanger and a better resistance to vibration.

Gas Diverter Sleeve

At the heart of the CiBAS is the unique exhaust gas diverter and silencing system. In bypass this distinctive design diverts the exhaust through the inner silencing system and out through the exhaust stack. With the unit in duty the diverter sleeve will seal on the plug silencer and the exhaust gas will be diverted through the helical coil heat exchanger and out through the exhaust stack. This ultra-reliable system has a single sealing edge that can provide 99.5% sealing for the lifetime of the unit.  The sleeve damper can be lowered and raised to provide 0-100% modulation according to duty requirements. This design controls the flow of the exhaust gas in line with the exhaust flow thus eliminating the stresses, forces and vibrations of a multi-louvre type damper system. The actuation for the damper will be via three pneumatic or hydraulic cylinders mounted external to the gas path with its own simple damper control system. The sleeve damper will failsafe to bypass with gravity even if air or power is removed from the actuation system

Integrated Silencer Plug

As well as providing the guide rails and upper sealing face for the sleeve damper system, the integral silencer plug has a perforated external stainless steel plate surface, with internal sound absorbing insulation to provide sound attenuation up to 85dBA.  This, in most cases, will eliminate the need for additional silencing minimising cost, weight and space requirements for the overall WHRU package. At the same time minimises the exhaust gas pressure drop through the system.

Top Case

The conical top case recombines the duty and bypass exhaust paths through the system and provides support for exhaust stacks, which can be up to 10 meters in length without the need for additional supports.
